great portraits 1. on the website i read about tips to take a really good portrait. these included lighting, personality, camera setting, and posing. i learned that there are certain aspects to taking a good portrait that benefits not only the photographer but the model as well, that i don't necessarily think about when i'm taking pictures. 2. why i chose this photo: her hair stands out from the blue/gray wall, and how she isn't smiling. rules of photography: lines, balance, depth of field who took it: dijon bowden spiral staircases 1. on the website i read about an architect photographer from a small town in germany. he goes to many abandoned houses and takes pictures of the staircases. he has a collection of these photos titled "abandoned staircases". 2. why i chose this photo: something about it looked different than the other staircases, the window is centered with the railing on the landing. rules of photography: lines, depth of field, balance, view...

cover types: 1. image based Image based covers have a person on the front, whether that be a celebrity or a random person. They are usually facing front and smiling but can be at different angles and have different facial expressions. They sell themselves basically, such as an exclusive interview or never before seen pictures. Another example is them endorsing a product like how some celebrities are associated with certain brands and that's how we know them. 2. illustration based Illustration based covers are drawn illustrations on magazine covers. More companies used them when magazines were just being published. Not very many magazines go for illustrated covers because photos are easier. Illustration covers are used to present something funny and unique, and the magazines that do use this type of cover don't really rely on sales from being on newsstands. 3. type based Type based covers have a lot of words on the cover instead of a big picture. tips: alter your perspective shoot candidly anticipating behavior environmental portraits i chose this photo because it looks goofy. i liked this photo because everything about it looks industrial except for the cupcakes. photography self portrait this photo stood out to me because she's literally on the wall and that's crazy. i chose this photo because it looks really weird and unnatural. casual portrait i liked this photo because of how the colors contrast and the darkness of the branches in front of her face. The quality is also really nice and it looks professionally done. i liked this photo because they did a family portrait with their dog and that's actually so adorable. i will shoot my friends and myself and follow the tips from the websites to make the photos good.
